South Australia made the most awaited move of inviting further occupations for offshore nominations. Speculations regarding further occupations becoming available for the year 2021-22 were spreading a lot of pessimism amongst applicants as South Australia opened the offshore nomination earlier this year for trade occupations and very limited professional occupations. The list of occupations has not been expanded to 70 more occupations which list most of the occupations that require a bachelor’s degree. No ICT or Engineering occupations have been included in the current list. Many popular occupations such as Marketing Specialist, Production Manager [Manufacturing]. HR Advisor, Recruitment Consultant, Microbiologist, Management Consultant, Information and Organization Professionals NEC and most of the farming occupations including Mixed Crop Farmer are on the list.
South Australia began accepting the Registrations of Interest on 28 September 2021. Successful applicants will be invited to apply for a nomination for either subclass 190 or 491.
The eligibility criteria associated with the current occupations released was seen as rather stringent. Only applicants with at least 8 years of experience assessed after the deemed date and Proficient Plus English in any of the acceptable English proficiency tests are eligible to lodge an ROI at this time.
It is anticipated that more occupations with a relaxed criteria will be rolled out in subsequent nomination intakes by South Australia to accommodate the majority of applicants who did not fit into this cherry-picking criterion set forth by South Australia on 27 September 2021.
