A notification has been sent out by the VETASSESS on 16 March 2020 advising of cancellation of all offshore assessment services with immediate effect in line with Commonwealth Government guidelines around the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The important thing here is not to confuse it with the Professional Occupations the VETASSESS assesses. The department will continue to assess application for all professional occupations like before. However, the VETASSESS Trades that assesses the Trades Occupations has cancelled the assessments that involved technical interviews at offshore venues. The Trades occupation assessment service will be resumed once the COVID situation is under control.
It is also to be clarified that the favourable skills assessments received from the VETASSESS Trades by the applicants will not be impacted by this cancellation announcement.
